The news that Ben's horse was expecting made him extremely happy. It was such an exciting moment for him! Seriously, who wouldn't be happy to have his assets increased? After all, if the horse gives birth and it's a good one, it could help him increase his financial wealth.

This moment had been awaited for months, if not years. It was about time for his horse to have a young one. However, the problem started when even with a giant stomach, it refused to give birth. Ben decided to go to the vet for an ultrasound. What was happening to the horse?

The Origin of the Problem

What Ben didn't expect upon getting to the vet was the need for him to call the police. What is happening? Was he at fault? After calling the police, the doctor was assured they would arrive immediately. Apparently, the problem was more than they could handle alone. It was evident that something was wrong with this horse's stomach, and it needed surgery. There was even a possibility that the horse might die.

He was asked questions that revolved around himself and the horse which he had owned since he was a kid. After answering all their questions, the surgery room opened, and the veterinarian came out with a look of disbelief on his face. "I cannot believe this," he exclaimed.

Let's backtrack a little. This horse that's the cause of all this ruckus has been pregnant for almost a year. Naturally, horses have a gestation period of 11-12 months. Ben loved the horse in question which he affectionately named Felicia. And since he wanted a second horse and didn't want to buy one, he tried to make sure Felicia reproduced, but that proved to be a hard task.

Seriously, there wouldn't be a whole area of the veterinary field devoted to equine reproduction if breeding horses were as straightforward as sperm meets ovum. Apart from considering the mare's health, there are several steps required to be taken.

Ben needed to locate a licensed practitioner in order to lawfully impregnate his horse. He searched for several months but couldn't get anyone he could legitimately recruit. It got to a point when he thought about just getting a horse instead, thinking that his expectation was probably unrealistic.

He searched for the ideal candidate for several months before finally discovering one. As soon as the expert got to him, they started right away and he stayed in Ben's house to ensure that effects would take place for Felicia as soon as possible. After the specialist was through, all he had to do was wait.

Ben was ultimately successful in getting his desired outcome despite the drawn-out and sluggish process. The wait was killing him and after two weeks, Ben called the animal doctor to schedule the initial ultrasound to see if what they were expecting had happened.

The doctor carried out a scan and affirmed that finally, Felicia will be having a foal. And upon inspection, both the horse and its foal appeared to be in great condition. However, things started going south a few months later. First, it was Felicia's sleep pattern that gave him cause for concern as she wasn't sleeping as much as she used to.

The Calm Before the Storm

Felicia failed to give birth despite Ben making every preparation to make sure everything went perfectly. He had no option but to contact the veterinarian. However, he was forced to respond to unexpected inquiries.

Within minutes of picking up the doctor from her clinic, they were at Ben's home. She examined Felicia right away because she was not moving at all. She didn't move at first, but when the vet got close, she became agitated.

The mare wasn't having any of it. It would be too risky to sedate the mare for a sonogram and too risky to do one without it. Every bit of assistance was needed by the doctor. Ben and his friend stayed away from Felicia, hoping she would calm down as she became more aggressive. But she did not. What choices did she have? She was limited to one option.

Ben was aware of this, but he was reluctant to interrupt the doctor. She examined the sonogram for a few minutes before telling Ben that she had to make an important phone call. Ben had no idea who she was going to call, though. Suddenly, Ben started to get even more anxious.

The veterinarian noticed two odd objects on Felicia's ultrasound, one of which was a medical chip. When he saw that, he realized he had to notify the cops. Given that the chip was manufactured illegally by the expert who assisted Ben, the authorities were looking for it.

The cops assisted the veterinarian in removing the chip during the procedure and tracing it to the specialist. Along with taking out the chip, they also assisted in the delivery of a special kind of foal. The second thing the doctor noted was the foal looked one of a kind and might be quite valuable. He couldn't believe what he was seeing!
