Since the advent of social media, heartwarming stories about father and daughter relationships have circulated, each one unique in its own right. But one dad named Peter Kaye did something entirely original for his beloved little girl that no one has probably ever done before!

Keeping a secret for six years hasn't been easy for Peter, but knowing his kid will enjoy the surprise to come was enough to excite him. One day, his little lady wondered if her dad could spare some change. A light bulb went off in Peter's head – he knew now was the perfect time to unravel his long-held secret.

So It Begins

Peter thought it would also be a good time to teach his daughter about earning through hard work, so he sent her on cleaning duty. She was tasked to check an old window box and clean it up; but, she realized the place was too dark. Carefully, she used her hand to feel what was inside – and amazingly, she found a mysterious box.

Inside was a brass doorknob, so the daughter rummaged through the container after handing the item to her dad. Maybe there was valuable stuff that's yet to be discovered. She began to lose hope when she chanced upon some metallic pieces with strange holes.

 

No Treasure, but There's a Map

Peter's daughter hoped to find some sort of treasure, although nothing fancy caught her eye just yet. But that doesn't discount the fact that this treasure hunt was super fun! She tried her luck one more time, and finally, her hand brushed a piece of paper. It was old, with torn-up parts, so she cautiously pulled it out.

No one was more surprised with what the girl saw than her grandma – the paper was a treasure map! But little did she know that it was her dad who placed it there in the first place. Peter then kept the box upright so that he could position the map on top.

 

Careful Inspection

Out of the blue, Peter's daughter exclaimed that this was a 'secret room treasure map.' Excitement filled the air as the little girl checked the map's writings; it was all too overwhelming. She noticed there was an address indicated on top, which surprised her mom and granny as well.

They all realized it was actually their home address! Naturally, the girl assumed that the secret map might be indicating their room upstairs. So the grandmother asked why she thought this, and without any hesitation, the kid's forefinger pointed to a spot on the map.

 

A Hidden Door

One of the biggest clues the map gave was that it referred to a hidden door somewhere in the house. Yet, they had no clue where it was! Peter subtly gave his daughter a hint that it might be upstairs and that they should check it out.

It only took a few moments before they eventually arrived at the staircase when Peter suddenly suggested placing the map by the floor. It sounded odd, but his daughter did it anyway. And, guess what? She had known where the hidden door was all along- what a pleasant surprise!

 

Not What She Thought

Unfortunately, the little girl was mistaken – it wasn't in the place she initially thought. So, she went back to the staircase area along with her parents and grandma to resume searching. It was such an interesting sight to see this curious girl thinking really hard to find an answer.

Luckily for her, Peter figured he might as well assist in making everything more enjoyable. He said that perhaps she should look in her bedroom! Well, it only took a couple of seconds before the daughter bolted off to her room, holding the old map in her hand.

 

It's Going Well 

Peter and his family made a quick glance at the map before they started to really take this treasure hunt seriously. As it turns out, the little girl was quite skilled at reading maps, and in return, the activity was definitely going to keep her occupied the entire day.

At the back of Peter's mind, he just kept his fingers crossed that all the extra effort he made would pay off and that his daughter would remember this forever. His thoughts were interrupted when the little kid declared something was amiss – what was happening?

 

Something on the Wall

The little girl sat on her bed and stared at the wall. And it dawned upon her that the hidden door was inside this very room! Apparently, the wooden panel plastered on the wall was most likely the spot marked with an X on the map. She then began to hit the wall as hard as she could – it wasn't a simple task for such a small kid.

Yet, the child tried her best anyway since she wanted to get to the bottom of this treasure hunt. Suddenly, her efforts were beginning to take effect as she found something incredibly startling; it was like something from a movie.

 

Part of the Ruse

When Peter began planning for the whole thing, he didn't bother revealing any of the details to other family members, including his wife. So, as expected, she was pretty perplexed and shocked at how dedicated her husband was in the entire process. How did he manage to keep this hidden?

Meanwhile, their daughter finally found the hollow part of the wall and excitedly rammed it with her arms, but to no avail. She eventually had to ask her dad to step in, which he did so willingly. All the while, Peter continued to act as if he's seeing everything for the first time.

 

More Suggestions

Peter allowed his daughter to take the lead in what the next step should be. And good thing he did, since she knew what needed to be done! She simply wanted to cut up the wall to open it up, much to her mother's protests.

But Peter had a different idea – he wanted to follow his little girl's suggestion minus any concerns. Both were like two peas in a pod with their outrageous recommendations, especially since the cutie thought there's probably over $150,000 worth of treasure inside. It's well-worth breaking down that wall indeed!

 

Trying His Best

Following her daughter's wishes, Peter continued to hammer down the wall until he came upon the hollow sound. He tried to tap the surrounding areas just to let his little girl hear the different sounds. Of course, she didn't know this was part of Peter's plan.

Either way, the kid was convinced that it was indeed the correct spot – they should just get on with it and break it down right now! What was her dad waiting for? The sooner the wall is opened, the sooner they'll find all the incredible treasures behind it.

 

New Strategy

To speed things up, Peter got his trusty electric cutting tool and positioned it in the area with the hollow sound. It feels like it was only yesterday that he sealed this up – but actually, it's been six years. He made himself busy working around the wall while the rest of the family tried to document the entire experience on camera.

Since it was such a loud machine, Peter had his daughter wear her earphones, so she doesn't have to listen to all the noise. But actually, the happy girl had the most crucial task of all – Peter asked her to open the wall flap where she saw something blue.

 

Opening the Flap

Well, Peter was readily available to rescue her from the tedious job since it demanded an extra amount of physical strength. Ever so slowly, the devoted dad tore the flap from the wall so that his child could peek at the blue thing she saw first.

Funnily enough, she felt a bit sad that it wasn't what she expected. Her head was now inside the flap to see everything much clearer, but the little girl didn't locate what she wanted. Perhaps the kiddo was just overthinking that there were indeed some expensive items inside the wall.

 

Maybe There's No Treasure

Peter's little one was truly heartbroken upon realizing this, but of course, she was wrong. Yet secretly, her dad didn't spill the beans immediately since he wanted to keep the suspense! What was really behind the wall? Still, her curiosity was now at an all-time high – she had to know what was inside!

The little girl figured she might as well crawl inside, and to her amusement, there was a whole room behind the wall! She laughed and told everyone how dirty it was! At this point, Peter was quick to argue that even if it was dusty, it's kind of awesome to have a secret room of her own.

 

All or Nothing

Peter tried his best to hold the secret a bit longer when his child kept on repeating that nothing significant was inside. But everything changed when the kid saw a tiny metallic chest propped on the grimy floor. Once again, her excitement lit up the room as she walked fast to pick it up.

Holding her breath, she slowly lifted the lid and shrieked with delight when her eyes fell on the contents. She immediately called dibs on whatever was inside, saying it's meant to be hers from the start. What a fantastic turn of events!

 

Supportive Family

Everyone beamed with happiness when they saw how happy their little girl was. She finally found her long-awaited treasure box! Her granny and mom began snapping photos of the girl and her incredible discovery to immortalize the moment.

Inside the box was a mix of fancy jewelry and coins – plus, it had an extra noteworthy letter from none other than her father, Peter. As part of their' ceremony,' Peter asked his smart little lass to read it so everyone could hear her – it said, 'I love you!' What a sweet message from a father to his lovely daughter!

 

Pirate Money

The little girl couldn't believe how lucky she was to have found some jewelry, but the coins also piqued her interest as she hasn't seen anything like it before. Interestingly, they weren't actually money since they turned out to be earrings!

According to Peter, these were called 'pirate money' as they apparently magically transformed them into 'pirate earrings.' His daughter looked at him and wondered whether her dad was just making fun of her, but he seemed so serious that she believed him anyway. On the other hand, Peter couldn't help but be sentimental since he's waited half a dozen years for this event.

 

Highly Impressed

It was such an emotional rollercoaster, particularly for Peter's wife and the grandmother, since they never knew how he planned the entire thing years ago. It must have taken him a lot of self-restraint to keep this hidden for so long, which is why his wife, in particular, was highly impressed by his character.

This was undoubtedly a story the entire family will retell in the years to come! Peter might have to find a way to top this scavenger hunt once his daughter grows up. But in any case, the family was just beyond proud of the amazing dad and how his six-year-old plan worked out seamlessly.

 

How it Began

It wasn't easy to come up with a treasure hunt that wouldn't be revealed until years later, but Peter was convinced this was something he wanted to do for his daughter. It all began with a treasure map, which he hid in a dilapidated window area.

Since it was his little girl's future room, he was confident she'd unearth the antique box once the appropriate time would come. Good thing Peter was a patient person, so it was all worth it in the end. His sassy child's smile and laughter were a priceless sight he'll keep in his memory until the end of time.

 

A Viral Sensation

Thanks to all the videos his wife took during the scavenger hunt, they managed to put together a montage. They uploaded it on July 11, 2013, to share the happy moment with the rest of the world. But no one also expected that Peter's video would go viral on a popular video-streaming platform.

To date, it's been viewed several million times and counting! Everyone loved watching the girl trying to figure out the way to the treasure. But the real star of the show was Peter and his unwavering love for his lovely little girl. No one would argue that he's probably the coolest dad on the block!
