Ryan Gosling is set to headline the upcoming project from Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the acclaimed duo behind “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

Production for the untitled film is expected to begin this summer in Los Angeles. Universal initially scheduled the release for June 12, 2027, but it has now been pushed back to November 19, 2027.

Little has been shared about the film’s narrative so far, keeping speculation alive. Ryan Gosling is balancing two major 2027 releases, including this one and Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars: Starfighter.”

The announcement comes on the heels of “Project Hail Mary,” Amazon MGM’s sci-fi release that performed well above projections. It opened to $80 million domestically and brought in $141 million worldwide in its first weekend.

The film has continued to build on that momentum, now standing at $100 million in North America and $155 million globally.

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert began with “Swiss Army Man,” a 2016 film starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe that leaned into absurdity.

They later achieved global recognition with “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” led by Michelle Yeoh.

The film proved to be a major success, crossing $100 million and winning seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Before their film work, the pair made waves directing Lil Jon’s viral “Turn Down for What.”

Production and Partnerships

The untitled Gosling film is produced by Kwan, Scheinert, and Jonathan Wang through their Playgrounds overall deal with Universal. Recently, Kwan and Wang produced “The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist” via Universal’s specialty studio Focus Features, scheduled for release on March 27. Deadline first reported the news of Gosling’s casting.

Universal’s decision to delay the release reflects a strategic move to maximize audience reach, while Gosling’s involvement ensures strong star power. With the combination of Daniels’ inventive storytelling and Gosling’s box office draw, anticipation for the film is already building.

The upcoming film positions Gosling as a central figure in a promising 2027 cinematic lineup. Fans of innovative storytelling and high-profile performances are likely to follow the project closely.

While details remain limited, the collaboration between Gosling and Daniels could deliver a unique cinematic experience.
