Prince Charles’ One Regret About Baby Archie Is Devastating

The British Monarchy has been around for centuries, which is why intrigue has surrounded their family for years. So, it's only natural for someone like Prince Charles to have his fair share of issues as aside from being the heir, he is still a father after all! But apparently, there's one pressing matter that had bugged him when he first knew about it, and it's about his baby grandson, Archie.

Ever since his two sons have started their own brood, the prince has tried his best to be present as much as possible. However, his youngest son, Harry, made a life-changing decision that might have left Prince Charles with regret.

The Princes of England

They may be royalty, but others consider Prince William and Prince Harry like Hollywood stars - people want to know every detail of their life! Like his dear father, William is set to be the future King of England, while Harry has a long line to tackle before he can get to the crown.

Try as he may, the younger prince will likely never be the king as William has three children of his own, meaning they are farther up the line than Harry and his kid, Archie. But as it turns out, these aren't the things that are causing Prince Charles some concern.

Not the Stereotypical Royal

Harry grew up all his life knowing he won't rule England, so it's probably why he's been a bit of a rule-breaker. What's interesting about it is how his mischief has somehow made him a favorite in the public eye – he was almost like a regular guy. A characteristic that's often associated with his late mother, Diana, the Princess of Wales!

Fondly called The People's Princess, Diana gained love and fame amidst all the scandal that surrounded her private life. After she got divorced from Charles, it put a strain on her relationship with Queen Elizabeth, among others. Still, it didn't put a dent in her image outside the palace.

All Grown Up

Some folks say Harry inherited his mom's impulsive behavior based on all the funny-business he's been associated with when he was a teenager. Similar to young adolescents his age, the prince got into trouble for several things, like being photographed indecently or getting himself in a public brawl.

Fortunately, Harry is far from his old self, so Charles doesn't have to worry about sharing his son's past with Archie. Now that he finished his stint with the Royal Military Academy, Harry also joined the armed forces for a decade and was deployed in Afghanistan – all this changed him for the better and allowed him to genuinely mature!

A New Man

After hanging his towel in the army, Harry focused his attention on several charitable institutions under his name. The prince is a patron to multiple charities supporting impoverished children, endangered animals, and mental health programs. However, the most famous initiative he started was a sports-centric one called Invictus Games, a program that allows injured former service members to participate in Olympic-like activities.

Luckily, he didn't just get the compassionate gene from his mom as his father, Charles, is also quite a dedicated man when it comes to providing the best aid to his chosen organizations!

One Tricky Relationship

Most people are aware that Harry shared a wonderful and close relationship with Lady Diana, but when it comes to him and Charles, there's speculation that it's complex rather than easy – and the same can be said for his stepmother, Camilla. The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall aren't incredibly well-liked among the masses for obvious reasons, in contrast to Harry's great reputation thanks to his mother's legacy.

Believe it or not, but Harry ranked second next to the Queen as the most popular royals in Britain – that's a surprising twist as William was always a crowd favorite! Perhaps, this reversal had something to do with his new wife, Meghan Markle.

A Love Story for the Ages

Harry's love life has been a constant subject in magazines and tabloids, especially since he is one of England's most eligible bachelors after William got hitched. But all that shifted when he met Meghan, an American actress, on a blind date – one could say it was probably love at first sight since he couldn't bear to be away from her since.

A year after they began dating, Prince Harry popped the big question and presented the lovely Suits star with a gorgeous diamond ring from Princess Diana's jewelry collection. Of course, the big wedding happened not soon after in May 2018, and it was undeniably the wedding of the year!

Hoorah for Another Royal Baby

Luck was definitely on Harry and Meghan's side after they were immediately blessed with a bouncing baby boy born on May 6, 2019. Christened Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, or simply Archie, the little prince brought glee to the entire family, particularly to his proud grandpa, Charles.

So, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made some surprising changes to their future just after Archie arrived, Charles was among the first who expressed regrets geared toward his grandson. And it's probably because he doesn't want to be left behind, considering he became Harry's sole parent after their mother passed in 1997.

Going Away for Good

Things took a different turn when Harry and his bride revealed they'd be taking a backseat at their royal duties to devote more time to their little family. Much to the monarchy's dismay, the threesome is heading to the United States to start a new life together; however, they will still make time to fly back to the UK as much as possible.

In fact, this is presumably the reason the Prince of Wales feels regretful about the whole deal. Being away from his kid and baby grandchild is too much to bear – but like any doting dad, Charles supports Harry's choice to the fullest extent!

Making His Own Decisions

Unlike his peers, Harry wasn't keen on having other people influence whatever resolutions he made in life, so the prince was adamant about doing whatever he believed was best for Meghan and Archie from the beginning. A royal biographer named Nigel Cawthorne claimed no matter what Charles thought of his son's decisions, he can't do anything but give him his blessing. Anything he would do to convince Harry otherwise would've been futile!

Although it came with the condition that doing so won't dishearten the other royals – Charles is in an unusual predicament indeed as it seems moral support is the only way to go.

Senior Royals No More

In early 2020, Harry and Meghan shocked the entire world when they divulged that they are stepping back as senior royals for the time being and aim toward financial independence while keeping their alliance with the Queen. No one in the monarchy has done this before, let alone the upper members!

Funnily enough, William and Charles were the ones caught off guard the most as Harry apparently opted to skip consulting his dad and brother regarding his big move. It wasn't long till they bid goodbye to the United Kingdom and said hello to an unbridled life in Los Angeles.

The Simple Life

As expected, Buckingham Palace issued a statement regarding Harry, Meghan, and Archie's departure from the sovereign country. They didn't share any specific details about what would happen next; however, they are in discussions on the subsequent steps – it's a sensitive and unique case, so it won't be resolved that easily!

On the other hand, Charles was in talks of trimming the royal family to a certain number, but it looks like that won't be necessary for now since Harry's off the radar until further notice. It would have been a different story if they stayed within their duties for sure!

Foiled Plans

In an interview with the Daily Express, Cawthorne admits Charles was undoubtedly pleased to have Meghan onboard, and it would have been an excellent opportunity for them to stretch their role as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But as fate would have it, the monarchy will have to get used to the couple's absence now that they're officially residing abroad.

It's apparent that one of the major causes of Harry and Meghan leaving was the media's critical treatment toward them, especially of the duchess. She's probably used to the press already, but the level of intrusiveness changed to an alarming level when she married Prince Harry!

Sacrifices to Make Things Work

Meghan has been in the limelight for several years prior to meeting Harry, but her life was drastically altered when she joined the Windsor family. Not only did the duchess quit acting so she could do her duties better, but she also had to sacrifice a huge chunk of her privacy – which is quite amusing as Meghan barely had any even when she was a Hollywood star.

Thankfully, the couple is entitled to a bit of peace since they won't follow the footsteps of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are almost obligated to showcase their lives to the public.

Being in the Public Eye

Let's face it, living a life under the public's watchful eye has its perks and disadvantages, and no one knows this more than Harry and Meghan. The press is hungry for any report they can share to the masses, be it about Archie's birth or christening – they always want more. And while the royals happily oblige at times, there are instances where it's too much to handle.

Harry shared this sentiment when he and his wife filmed their first documentary titled Harry & Meghan: An African Journey. The prince even likened his situation to Princess Diana's, which unfortunately had a sad ending!

Living Parallel Lives

The tragedy surrounding the Princess of Wales' short but monumental life has been the epitome of how horrible the press can be to public figures. Harry confessed that he doesn't want his mom's lifetime of work to go to waste, which is why he does his best to make her proud even if she's gone.

Paranoia may kick in every time he is out with Meghan, but it's part of their job as royalty. It's not fun to see one's face plastered across the front page with a story that's most likely fabricated from fake sources.

Meghan Strikes Back

As the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan became prone to media backlash and interference, so much that she went as far as suing a known British tabloid called the Daily Mail for the unauthorized publication of her personal letters. That's just the tip of the iceberg for all the hassle the press has done as they've also wire-tapped Harry's mobile device – it's a good thing the couple is settling the matter on legal grounds.

These are just one of the many reasons why Harry and Meghan are glad to leave the country and stay away from the paparazzi; their lives would be so much better indeed!

Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

It may seem like nothing is making sense in the monarchy, with Harry's decision to leave and Charles who feel blindsided, but the good news is that the father and son duo is stronger than ever. They may not see each other as often as Charles would've preferred, but the family is making it work!

The Sussexes made sure to spend as much time with Archie's grandfather when they made a quick trip to the United Kingdom recently, something the Prince of Wales appreciated immensely. It's also great to know the two have respected each other's opinion from the start, particularly when it pertains to the future.

He Just Wants to Be Nearby

The Prince of Wales has several grandkids with William and Kate, but it looks like Archie has a special place in his heart since he is the youngest of the brood! Not to mention he is Harry's firstborn, which makes him a strong contender for his grandma Queen Elizabeth II's undivided attention too!

Since the monarchs would have to get used to doing things long-distance, everyone must get along well – more so since Charles will barely get a glimpse of his child. Perhaps, the only thing that won't change will be the press' keen eye on the young couple and their little boy.

Just Like Any Other Family

Problems come and go, and in the case of Charles, Harry, and Archie, there would always be an issue that would arise at some point. However, that doesn't mean they won't be able to conquer it! Luckily for the Windsors, they are privileged enough to have the resources, so in case they get homesick, they could always hop on a plane and see their grandparents.

As for the Prince of Wales, he doesn't have to miss Archie that bad, considering he can see him anytime with just a click of a phone button. Thanks to technology, it won't feel like the Sussexes are on the other side of the world!
