Out to Dry
It's no secret that cats have no qualms taking a rest in the most obscure places. It seems that everything is fair game, from boxes to trees, except for that expensive bed your owner bought at the pet store! No self-respecting feline would dare sleep in such an abomination!
This picture proves that fact, as we see that this kitten decided that the laundry rack is perfect for a cat nap, and in all honesty, we have to say that if you look at its level of bliss, it seems quite comfortable!
Ground Horse Day
While we're all too familiar with the strange places pets like cats use as resting spots; this little filly has got us baffled. Whoever would've thought a horse could find maximum comfort in some old tires? It seems that we'll have to reconsider the old saying ' hitting the hay' now!
Though this looks exceptionally uncomfortable to us, our expertise on horses is limited, and it seems that he's off to the races in dreamland just fine. It looks like we'll have to saddle up a different viewpoint on the equine community's sleeping habits!
I Think I Can Fix This!
Many people can't keep awake when they get into a car for a trip, but this can be a problem if you're the driver! We reckon this puppy has to have his driving permit revoked, as falling asleep with your head on the accelerator is no way to operate a motor vehicle!
The loose wiring might indicate that his busy sorting out the car's electrics, and he just needed a break. We know that this is all just fun speculation and that this doggo is just taking a nap, but isn't it fun to imagine what kind of things canines could get up to if they had human skills!
Napping Cuties
Just because we're familiar with the high levels of cuteness given to us by cats and dogs, we shouldn't forget that there are plenty of other animals out there who are just as adorable and deserve our recognition. And just like their more domesticated counterparts, they can nap anywhere!
Take, for example, this mama hog and her piglet, who is comfortably sleeping on her snout. The baby looks just like a clone of its mother, and this picture is a fantastic reminder that little piggies can hold their own with even the most loveable pets out there!
Treat Dreams
Some puppies have an appetite that could give some competitive eaters a run for their money, and we reckon that this adorable little doggie is one of them!
Not only is it sleeping in a dish full of food that is way too large for it, but it looks like it's right at home doing so. We think this is a fantastic idea, as you're going to wake up and your next meal is going to be ready! This puppy's owners are going to have a big and strong boy when he reaches adulthood!
Feeling Zen
Cats clearly don't give a hoot when it comes to napping anywhere, but it seems that this particular feline decided to do so in the cleaning products aisle of a store!
We can only speculate on its reasons for doing so, but all those fragrances from the soaps and detergents might have something to do with it. Almost like cleaning catnip! Maybe he's not sleeping and is doing a bit of yoga. However, we have to say that we've never heard of the downward cat pose! Guess it's time to update all the yogis around the world!
Cup of Cuteness
What’s the first thing you reach for in the morning? Your phone or a cup of strong coffee? How about a severe dose of cuteness instead! We’re pretty sure that finding a baby chipmunk fast asleep in your mug would give you the boost you needed after a night’s camping; no caffeine is required.
This perfect little swirl of the adorable animal even seems to have been styled by an expert barista. We think this critter looks like a caramel macchiato, or maybe a chocolatey mocha. One thing’s for sure, though; this little guy hasn’t had his coffee yet!
What? It ‘Snout’ Uncomfortable At All!
This dog’s owner has gone all out and bought their favorite pet a double-decker bed. This hound needs twice the comfort; two mattresses ensure he gets all the sleep he needs.
So, is this dog too lazy to get onto his bed? Or is he slowly sliding off the most comfortable place in the room onto cold tiles? We can imagine him halfway across the room by the end of his nap! Either way, we hope his snout gets straightened out soon, or he’s going to have trouble sniffing out his next meal!
No Vet Required!
Dogs don’t always enjoy visiting the vet, but it seems that this particular corgi is so relaxed by the whole experience he’s taking advantage of a quick lie down and drifted off into a cozy slumber.
Or maybe he’s just pretending to be asleep in the hope of avoiding an examination! The smart mutt has managed to position himself in front of the keyboard so the vet can’t make any notes. We’re no experts, but we diagnose sleeping sickness or fear of vets for this pup. Perhaps he’s hoping his owner will come to the rescue, scoop him up and get him out of there!
Slumped Sloth
The good news about being a sloth is that no one will judge you for just collapsing in a heap when you get tired. No need to make it back to your bed, the life of a sloth is a happy one. If exhaustion suddenly takes over, slump and sleep, sleep, and slump.
More commonly found hanging upside down in a tree, this somnolent sloth must have had enough of viewing the ground from above. We don’t know how long it took to make it down to the lush green carpet he’s found, but it looks like this guy will be there for a while!
Who Turned The Room Round?
A cat taking a nap is not an unusual phenomenon. Most cats love nothing more than spending the day stretched out asleep, enjoying some peaceful quiet before heading out for an adventurous evening chasing scuttering tasty mice.
But when we say 'stretched out,' we mean on a plump cushion or a cozy chair. We don't mean up a wall! This cat seems to have gotten this room's orientation confused, or maybe he is on sentry duty and needed forty winks? We don't know, and somehow, we doubt he does either!
Bedtime Story
When they said the animal in this page-turner was a baby ferret, we didn't realize they meant literally! This little cutie has had a hectic day and is too exhausted to reach the tale's end. Rather than using his tiny paw to turn the page, he's collapsed onto it and into the story!
We wonder what his book is about and whether this miniature reader has dreamt his way into the narrative? Do you think he's sailing the seas as a swashbuckling pirate or blasting his way into space to save the world? What a hero!
Growing Pains
You’re a dog, you’re tired, and you need to chill. So what do you do? Lie down on the flat, paved surface? Or squash your body into one plant pot and your head into the adjacent one? I think we all know the answer to that question, and it’s not the obvious one!
This hound might be cute, but we still wonder if his hangdog look will be enough to absolve him from squashing the beautiful flowers his owners have grown in these two pots. He’s managed to save a couple; we hope that will get him back on the right path, in more ways than one!
Bridging the Divide
Don't go by the looks of this dog! He might look small, but the laziness and the amount of Netflix he soaks in are no joke. We do hope the doggo doesn't manage to gnaw through that inhaler on the table.
The angle at which the lounging canine has managed to balance his body is exhibit-A showing that he lives with a human. We have clearly made it our favorite pastime to doze off in front of the television, and now we're hell-bent on spoiling our canine friends too. We wonder what's next; dogs munching buckets of popcorn and chicken wings?
Yogi Bunny
No fancy beds, no tantrums, and no-frills - that is the mantra of this pet! This rabbit is demonstrating what the best sleep technique looks like by zonking out on the nearest hardwood floor. Perhaps in a display of Yoga mastery, it is also showing-off its flexibility by stretching its paws in the air while asleep.
We humans should take cues from the bunny and try to sleep without any bed, grass, or blankets. A flexible spine will surely come in handy if we want to hop around with a carrot in our mouths too!
Catnapping
The proverb isn’t true; curiosity doesn’t always cause harm to the cat! Over here, it simply sent the little pet into a deep slumber. The owner has smartly installed the kitty condo right next to the window so their feline companion can enjoy the view.
It is simply hilarious that the cat dozed off while watching birds and trucks outside the window. The paws hanging in the air and body comfortably seated on the condo make it look like the furry pet is all geared to receive a long-awaited backrub. Someone call the masseuse already!
‘Logged’ Out
The nocturnal nature of porcupines makes them one of those animals that prefer an afternoon siesta instead of a good night’s sleep. So our prickly friend chose to pass out in what looks like a pretty uncomfortable place to sleep - a high and horizontal tree trunk.
Given the fact that this is in the wilderness, it makes sense for the porcupine to choose such a unique place for a nap. High up in the trees, the critter keeps dangerous predators like wolves, bears, and coyotes at bay; plus, there’s some nice shade too!
Wise Move
Hell hath no fury like summers in the southern regions of the US! So when Oklahoma was undergoing a massive heatwave, a kind woman chose to leave bowls of ice outside to help the squirrels in the vicinity.
While most of the squirrels saw it as a source of drinking water and a way to cool off, there was a smart one that made a bed out of it. The bushy-tailed creature seems to be in a state of nirvana, and it might be a while before the little one actually wakes up.
Letting the Guard Down
This dog needs to understand that the sheep’s fleece is first turned into yarn and then into a quilt! But going by its deep sleep, the dog seems to be in no mood to hear us out.
Isn’t it called a sheepdog, one that is meant to protect the livestock from all sorts of external attacks? However cute and innocent it may look, the fact remains that we have a farm employee who is slacking off during work hours! We wonder if the sheep know that the slacker is passed out on its back.
Watermelon Hogger
Here’s the recipe for a lip-smacking watermelon cooler that is meant only for cats. Take the watermelon out of the fridge, place it on the table, and wait for your feline kids to sleep on it. At a later point, they can probably dig into it by punching a hole using their paws!
If you notice the picture closely, there is another cat that probably lost all claims on the watermelon and decided to sleep on the table instead. There seems to be a lot of demand for this bed!
Complex Nap
Please do not try this at home since these stunts are performed by extremely flexible giraffes who have been gifted by nature. Now that we have cleared this, this guy doesn’t seem too comfortable, does he?
It is evident that there are no relaxing positions when your neck is that long, which is why these animals barely sleep for half an hour a day. With time adult giraffes learn the art of sleeping while standing to avoid all the discomfort. Our subway rides could become more pleasant if only we humans could sleep while standing too!
Walk + Nap = Best Combination
Dogs have the most endearing personalities, but sometimes they can be downright goofy! The internet is filled with amusing shenanigans that our furry four-legged friends tend to pull on their beloved owners. As cute as it looks, for the people involved, it definitely gets annoying after a while.
We can say the same for this poor lady! Dogs are usually pumped to go on a walk, but this one has missed the memo on how it's supposed to behave! Instead of being an overactive sniffer with a wagging tail, the pup decided to nap smack dab in the middle of the road, and the owner's reaction says it all.
Prickly Sleep
The timing of this picture is worthy of our admiration! At first glance, this hedgehog's sleeping spot may cause the viewers to be concerned as napping on a bed of cacti is nobody's preference. Although it may not look comfortable to us humans as the cactus definitely pricks a lot, for an animal covered in sharp quills, we would say it hardly makes a difference!
To be honest, the hedgehog seems to be napping peacefully, and the thorny nature of cacti doesn't seem to be bothering it at all. All's well that ends well!
Sweaters Make The Best Nest
We can only imagine the sappy feeling that the owners get when their pets snuggle up to them and seek them out for warmth and comfort! The Reddit user who posted this photo is probably in the same boat because they revealed that their bird likes to take a nap inside a jacket or a sweater. Aw, this picture is too cute!
The feathery critter sure looks peaceful and is fast asleep. In case you are wondering what species is this, it's a Conure parrot. For those who may not know, they are medium-sized parrots that are generally found in the Western Hemisphere. Utterly adorable!
The Best Place To Sleep
We are all guilty of falling asleep while a movie is still playing! It is just so easy to just zone out, curl up with a blanket, and rest your eyes for a while. The sweet kitty in the picture seems to have it in reverse because it started napping before the film could be played, and the owner could settle on a sofa!
We have definitely seen more comfortable spaces to nap than on a stack of DVDs. But, if we have learned anything from this list, it is the fact that animals can literally sleep anywhere!
A Perfect Pillow
This picture does something to our hearts! That puppy is so small, probably just a few weeks old, that it's able to fit right inside the caretaker's shoes. To be honest, the sturdy footwear seems to be providing strong support for the shoulder and nap, making it the best pillow ever! The shoes also probably smell of its owners, which could be why the dog decided to sleep on it.
But, we are sure that when it comes to naps, dogs are hardly concerned about posture. It looks like they live by the motto – sleep whenever I can, wherever I can!
Mum's Lap Is The Best Place To Relax!
Look at the momma otter peacefully afloat on the water with her baby secured safely in her arms! That's a mother's dream. While the baby otter is off in slumber-land, the mum is making sure her little one is protected.
To us, it may look something out of a fairytale, but for the otters, it is quite common to spend a lot of time with the family in the water, and these mothers like to keep their offspring closeby. Otters certainly make for very hands-on parents, and if this picture isn't proof enough, their bond with their young is one of the strongest in the animal kingdom.
Rockstar Raccoon
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ series showed us how talking raccoons would look like, and now, our little friend here is demonstrating how sleeping ones look. Don’t you think it is the cutest napper on the face of the earth?
Besides that pink tongue sticking out, there are many intriguing aspects of this adorable picture. For instance, it is wearing a funky t-shirt, there’s an awesome pillowcase, and the backdrop is of a cool skyline poster. We wouldn’t be surprised if this raccoon is called ‘Rockstar’ at home, or perhaps even ‘Rocket II’!
King-Sized Bed
We all know that one person who likes to sleep in weird angles, just like this lion! The king of the lot is sleeping in the most awkward position we have ever seen. Irrespective of how hilarious it looks, we bet the other animals won’t dare to make fun of him and risk their lives.
While it looks like a very un-regal posture for a lion, it looks pretty comfortable in the splayed-out position with its paws resting on the opposite wall. Let’s come back in an hour or two to check if the lion has started drooling already!
Gravity Defying Sleep
How is this position even possible? We are now convinced that cats are secretly ninjas that have mastered the art of defying gravity! This one looks like it's lying on two counters while most of its body hangs in mid-air. Are there invisible strings or braces that we are unable to see because this is simply mind-boggling!
As weird as it may seem to us, the feline seems to have no problem in catching a break. If this determined kitty can sleep here, then we are confident that it can sleep practically anywhere in the house!
The Car-napping Fox
It isn't very often that you see a fox in a mall parking lot, or any parking lot for that matter, because anywhere there are cars and humans is not their natural habitat. This particular fox, however, decided to break the rules and explore the human world.
The animal, probably tired from the walking and hopping, found itself passed out on the windshield of this parked car. We might never know how it got on top of the vehicle or why it chose that particular one, but it looks like it needed the rest.
Squirrel, the Photographer.
In a classic case of 'sleeping on the job,' this pretty squirrel seems to have passed out while checking out a photographer's camera during its routine inspection. The poor little thing uncomfortably fell asleep right on top of the camera, in what we think was exhaustion, from confirming if all the parts were in good condition.
We have seen lots of squirrel photos, but we haven't seen any by a squirrel. Maybe it is time we started training these creatures, as they seem interested in trying their paws in photography. For now, though, this little guy makes for a great assistant!
Camouflage Cat
We have seen numerous images of the perfect camouflage, but this cat takes the cake. The feline blended in with the sink and counter, and you might walk right past it without noticing that she is peacefully sleeping.
The sink nap, while looking comfortable and with no chance of disturbance, might not be a good idea after all since cats don't like getting wet. Unless the plumbers did a whack job, sleeping in the sink might be catastrophic, and she might need a clean set of towels when she wakes.
I Need a Ride
All living beings get tired, and for this sea lion, it was not any different. The animal, probably worn out from swimming, somehow got on this boat while the owners were away, and he passed out on one of the benches.
The sea-critter looks very comfortable, and we hope that the people who found him let him finish his nap before putting him back into the water. The fact that they took a photo of him shows that they saw some humor in the whole situation, so the adorable mammal was probably allowed a few more hours of rest.
The Cat Guard
According to a winery owner who had rodent issues in his winery barn, cats are the most incredible natural rodent control. After the introduction of the feline on the premises, the rodent population dwindled. As such, many vineyard owners like to have cats on board, you know, as part of the security team.
This cat, however, after a night of patrol, he was exhausted and decided he'd had enough. The animal passed out on some vines, and he seems very comfortable, killing two birds with one stone, taking a nap, and getting some sun. If this isn't some wise working move, then we don't know what is.
Friends in Sleep
They say friendship is being there through thick and thin, and in this case, we bet it means in sleep too. These best friends of different species have perfected the art of companionship, as the emu lets her elephant buddy lay on her fluffy feathers while keeping watch.
We can be sure when danger arises, the elephant will be woken up, but for now, he can nap in peace. This seems like a mutually beneficial relationship, for when the elephant grows bigger, the emu can lay on his massive body, and protection is also guaranteed—talk about friendship goals!
Excuse Me!
Having to get up every five minutes to pick a tissue when suffering from a cold can be pretty draining, so having a box nearby, or better yet sleeping on it, will save a big chunk of time. This kitty was probably snooping around when she came across the box of tissues, and all we know is, it was the perfect sleeping pod.
While we wouldn't consider her curled up position comfortable, she seems to have completely passed out. However, we hope that there are no humans who are allergic to cats in that home, or else they will be in for a cat-hair filled tissue surprise.
Bear With Me
It's not often that we see a bear sleeping on a telephone pole, and at first glance, you might think something disastrous is about to happen, but no. The bear is just taking a nap. The animals are known to scale high trees to evade attacks from predators, so we think this colossal guy thought the pole was a tree, and he decided to lay there.
While it looks like it feels at home up there, we hope that the bear will find a real tree to avoid climbing on one that may lead to electrocution next time. We wouldn't want to deal with a bear-induced blackout, now, would we?
Cat Yogi
We all know that cats always land on their feet, but we wager that you have not seen a cat that is as flexible as this one. This feline looks like he has been taking yoga classes because there is no way one would sleep like that and not wake up with back pains and migraine.
Interestingly, the kitty is deeply asleep; he doesn't even realize that he's slipping off the couch and is on a downward trajectory, fast. We hope he will not have a rude awakening from the fall, and as always, he will land on his feet, not the head.
Laying on the Edge
There are risks, and then there is this fox's risk. This little guy decided to scale the heights to the second floor's balcony and take a nap. It looks like a standard and safe place sleep time isn't the thing for him; he needs the adrenaline rush to keep calm.
The furry critter looks super comfortable in his surroundings, not bothered by the height with his tail draping over the ledge. We hope the people who took this photo managed to get the animal down safely from his dangerous nap, where we think he had some pleasant, high dreams.
